This page is for collection and tracking of updates for the Main Branch version of the game which is the stable release that people would play.

GENERAL:

  • Lava! with nice and hot features like: burn player, burn monsters, burn and melt constructions, burn plants, melt basalt back into lava, make water evaporate, cooloff to basalt if in contact with water or with time. Also with nice some nice plants and monsters, and a boss at the entrance. And also with a special feature: ***** (no spoiler, sorry!).
  • New area below the crystal caverns, with its minerals, flora, monsters and a boss
  • New special area with ***** and ***** and *****. It rocks!
  • Improved end game with a last defense stand, plus a secret bonus
  • New devices: Miniaturizor Mk5, Drones for the AI, Advanced Flashlight, Water Detector, Invisibility Bracelet, Speed potion, Defense Shield
  • New weapons: Particles Shotgun, Particles Sniper Rifle, Flamethrower, Grenade launcher

  • New Auto-builder system: now they can be upgraded, and autobuilders show also all the previous tier items. Some filters button added to show recipes by item category.
  • Improved electricity system, much easier to use (wires placed on cells edges with auto-snap, better overlay). Wire item is now a Machine item.
  • Improved pathfinding (still work in progress).
  • Massive refactoring of code to better store dynamic data in cells, and clean flags (ok this one is not very interesting for you)
  • Refactoring of code to better manage the saving (and future multiplayer use) of game and items variables (same remark)
  • New dynamic resources loading/unloading system

BALANCE:

  • Change various numbers in weapons, monsters and recipes.
  • Repair turret now in tier2, less efficient (+ a new and more efficient powered one)
  • Decrease Explosive Firely explosion during night
  • Monsters stop following player earlier (during the day)
  • Jepack now doesn't work very well near the basalt (radiations causing interferences).

GRAPHICS:

  • Graphic makeover of the whole game!
  • Improve heating display (red dot in the center during the cooldown).
  • Improved dynamic ground borders (progressive)
  • Decreased water splash particles intensity
  • Do not show wet version of top ground sprites but for grass
  • Show armors on player character

BUG FIX:

  • Fixed projectiles sparks visible in dark
  • Cannot plant a plant on a plant :o)
  • Fixed a minor bug with auto-saved game names

MINOR:

  • Upgrade to Unity 5.3
  • Change of order in the inventory (minerals/materials at the end of it)
  • Teleport can be set on one of 4 different network (colors)
  • Improved selection when a door is next to an activable item
  • Change of starting location ground shape (no more forced cliff on the left, more random)
  • Remove huge storm gun flash (should be much better for epileptics players). Doesn't produce water in dry areas anymore

GENERAL:

  • Numerous new world areas, monsters, bosses, ores, plants, weapons, items, sounds. Now 15 units + 2 bosses (before: 8 units) and 122 items (before: 53). Many modifications of existing ones. No details, no spoils!
  • Dynamic plants (and trees) system. Every plant can now be planted and farmed. Plants are born, live and die, depending of the conditions: water (in soil and above), light, altitude.
  • Add water pressure simulation. Water flows smoother, can have its level rise, and adds forces to walls.
  • Each wall now has a specific weight
  • Electric system with generators (hydroelectric and solar ones), wires and items that require power.
  • Multi-Threading for complex simulations parts
  • Miniaturizor can now repair damaged items with left-clic (when selected)
  • Add Credits screen

BUG FIXES:

  • Fix monsters (especially for fireflies) pathfinding bug that was making them shoot at blocks when then could do a little detour to reach the player.
  • Turrets check line-of-sight before shooting. Better target selection.
  • Non-water monsters shouldn't spawn in water anymore

BALANCE:

  • Modification of the drop random system to smooth the drop rates.
  • From time to time monsters attack turrets that hit them... enjoy! Luckily turrets hp have been increased a lot.
  • At night, monsters drop bloody flesh items instead of usual drops.
  • Numerous modifications of the items recipes, the ores deposits, the units stats... well almost everything has changed in fact.
  • Modifications of the fall/recoil damages and the recoil pushes. Damages on monster that fall.

GRAPHICS:

  • Various modifications of items and items icons
  • Improve rain & water display

MINOR CHANGES:

  • Add a warning when we hit a Tier 2 monster for the first time.
  • Normal rain fall straight (should prevent some bases flooding)
  • Translation to Russian, Japanese, Japanse, Finnish. Improve localization file format.
  • Add a warning if loading a v0.06 saved game. A v0.06 branch has been created for those who wish to play their v0.06 saved games.
  • Turrets and Machines can now be built on platforms, but no longer on metal supports.
  • Add dead bodies of a firefly and a hound at start in front of the crashed it. Your ship actually killed them, that's why they attack you at first night whatever you do.
  • Quick Load with F8 instead of F9
  • Add scroll bar to the inventory
  • FIX [A] heal shortcut update

Developer Comment/s: "Here is a new minor update! It should be the last one before the first major update v0.1. So from today i'll fully work on new features & content! Follow me on Twitter or Tumblr to get daily news of the development progress!"

GENERAL:

  • During the night, spawn much less often monsters that can't reach the player... It should make the floating-base trick much less effective.
  • During the day, monsters don't become aggressive if they can't see the player (from 8 blocs), hear it shooting/digging (from 10 blocs) or be very close (2 blocks).
  • Add an UI icon for all passive items currently in use (Armor, Flashlight, Miniaturizor).
  • Add Spanish translation.

BUG FIXES:

  • Fix a crash that happened after 29 hours of play (I should have tested the game longer !!)
  • Fix a big performance issue when there are a lot of blocks with physics. Now 7 times faster.
  • Doesn't black-freeze anymore if localization file not found (the bug occured for Spanish players).
  • Fix the pause menu that didn't really pause the game

BALANCE:

  • Add 4 metal scraps at start to be able to build the AutoBuilder MK2 if we built another MK1 and 6 turrets.

MINOR CHANGES:

  • Corrections for some chinese & italian text
  • Change the version numbering (adding a build number for hotfix)
  • Heal shortcut now use the weakest potion of the item bar

GENERAL:

  • Add localization in French, Chinese and Portuguese. You can choose your language in the steam properties of the game.
    • "And you are most welcome to help if you wish to translate to your own language! The languages files are located in the game local files, into DigOrDie_Data/StreamingAssets/localization/; On file per language, you send email me your translations here: contact@gaddygames.com :o)"
  • There could be some issues with the texts in the various languages, do not hesitate to give me feedbacks on it.
  • Steamworks is now implemented to get the game language
  • We can now place dirt. But only above natural background, to fill a hole. And you cannot replace broken stone either. Otherwise all the physics challenges would become useless.

BUG FIXES:

  • Fix the cut sounds very annoying bug, and the fall sound stereo bug
  • Fix a big lag in the world generation (growing plants part), and ingame (but less visible) too .
  • Remove the fishes initial damage
  • Cannot place backwalls behind a block anymore

BALANCE:

  • Add one metals crap (it means one more turret and no more stuck with not enough metal left to build the AutoBuilder MK2... unless you build the MK1...)
  • Player is now slowed down when falling through platforms

MINOR CHANGES:

  • Fix a bug with AI messages displayed too early
  • [E] can be pressed from a bit further away
  • Air bar now displays over the character
  • Fix AI message display first-frame bug
  • Saving during the night quits menu so we can read the message
  • Music paused when game is minimized
  • Properly display the grass border over the dirt border

Developer Comment/s: "And here is a new update! Please tell me if anything is broken, as I updated the project to Unity 5 there could be unexpected behaviors (I hope not!).

Now I've still a few minor modifs to work on, and then I should be able to start working on the first major update v0.1! "

GENERAL:

  • Project updated to Unity 5
  • 2 new musics for the night!

BUG FIXES:

  • Health bars for turrets now properly displayed, and turrets are healed by healing turrets.
  • Water surfaces doesn't disappear any more. At least i found and destroyed you, you nasty bug!
  • You cannot shoot through a block any more (well in rare cases you still can, but it's much better now!)
  • Fix bug when saving/loading during rocket take-off, or when you get hit during take-off
  • Do not bug as hell any more when spamming F9 keys. And F9 now works in the loading screen.
  • Turrets should better handle monsters when they are out of screen. I think they were taking advantage of you being away to take a nap.

BALANCE:

  • Repair turret: heal much slower, but with a greater range. It should not prevent enemies from destroying walls, but just help you repairing them.
  • Rocket-jump effect doesn't occur any more if you shoot up, to prevent unexpected and frustrating deaths.
  • The first day start a little earlier to give a little more time to prepare the first night.
  • Monsters stay in place longer when player goes away with a teleporter (they await your return!)

MINOR CHANGES:

  • AI ship help: a lot of typos have been fixed and sentences have been improved. Thanks again Mackenzie!
  • Sky goes dark when raining, and rain looks a bit more heavy.
  • Iron support recipe update (1 gives 1 instead of 2 gives 2, that had no sense).
  • The crack picture now shakes in the same time of its block
  • Double-clic on an item in the inventory (or crafting it) add it in the item bar and select it
  • Add the Autobuilder MK1 craft recipe (in itself)

Developer Comment/s: "Hello, I don't yet have my new computer and enough time to work on the game (just relocated), but I took a little time to fix a very bad issue in regards to spawning, that had appeared on the last update. Some people had no or very few new monsters spawning, and for some others the rate of spawning were often far too low during the day... So I just uploaded to v0.050, tell me if it seems ok for you!"

GENERAL:

  • New Peaceful mode: no monster will attack you, unless you hit him first. Now you can sleep during the night at least.
  • A slightly better path-finding for the ground monsters. They should now dig their path upwards more precisely.

BUG FIXES:

  • Fix the "You're dead, please reload" message when not dead .
  • Monsters no longer spawn in front of back walls.
  • Monsters no longer disappear when you teleport.
  • "0% loading" freeze fixed partly fixed for majority.
  • Black dogs now spawn black dog horns instead of normal horns (Advanced HP potions are now craft-able).

BALANCE:

  • Ground monsters are slowed when swimming.
  • Rain quantity has been reduced (from 0.15 to 0.12 ).
  • Damages of minigun increased from 4 to 5.
  • Walls HP increased (100 to 150 for concrete and metal supports, 250 to 300 for reinforced concrete).
  • A little more coal, a little less aluminium.
  • The day/night cycle now lasts a little longer (12 minutes instead of 10).

GRAPHICAL:

  • Draw the HP bar for damaged turrets.
  • Dragged items are not semi-transparent.

MINOR CHANGES:

  • Reversed the item selection direction when scrolling through the action bar.
  • Added sound to the Miniaturizor.
  • You can now jump with the W key.
  • A lot of typo & grammar errors fixed, and better all round English.
  • Modification of some monsters & item names.
  • Framerate cap.
  • Cannot quick-save while dead.

Minor Update: v0.048[ | ]

FIX:

  • Fix the walls that were damaged after the load of a game in v0.047 (Walls max HP were previously increased but existing walls were not - had to load a new world for it to take effect).

BALANCE:

  • Rain quantity has been reduced (from 0.15 to 0.12 ).
  • Damages of minigun increased from 4 to 5.
  • Walls HP increased (100 to 150 for concrete and metal supports, 250 to 300 for reinforced concrete).
  • A little more coal, a little less aluminium (require a new world generation).
  • The day/night cycle lasts now a little longer (12min instead of 10).

FIXES:

  • "0% loading" freeze fixed (at least for a part of the people who got the error).
  • Black dogs spawn black dog horns instead of normal horns (you can now craft advanced hp potions).
  • Reversed the item selection direction when scrolling through the action bar.

GRAPHICAL:

  • Draw the HP bar for damaged turrets.
  • Dragged items are not semi-transparent.
